I want to change the fluid on my 01 ranger. It's an auto w 4x4. Id like to use a motorcraft filter and fel-pro gasket. Does anybody have the part numbers handy? FWIW, I used the SEARCH button already. Gump, you've been helpful in the past, perhaps you can shed some light on this before anybody fires back about SEARCH.

My credo
It was like that when I found it.
I personally like the Wix gasket/filter kits but Rock Auto has all the various manufacturers listed. Then you can google the part numbers for the best price.

For your 4.0L 4WD it looks like the filter is Motorcraft FT134 and the gasket is FEL-PRO TOS18679 (18 bolt holes)

For a 2001 Ford 5r55e.4WD Transmission
Be sure to get the Filter with the longer bottom suction tube for the 4WD DeepPan.
Hope this helps.

ATF Capacity 10q30 9L800. Do NOT use any MerconLV \ SP \ ULV or TypeCVT \ F \ FNR5 Fluid; they will damage Ford 5r55e Transmissions. Only use Fluid labeled Compliant with MerconV spec such as:

ATF MerconV.BaseOil Options
ATF MerconV.Blended Options
ATF MerconV.FullSyn Options

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
I always use Motorcraft fluid, too many of the other brands claim to be universal or multi spec fluids. If you really want to spend the money for synthetic fluid, use it to service your transmission more often.
