If you are staying in the same year the answer appears to be yes. The part numbers for a 98 F-150 4.6 and 5.4 are the same. The part numbers for an 06 F-150 4.6 and 5.4 are the same. But the numbers are different from 98 to 06, so as long as you match styles you should be OK. The cut off is probably 04 or 05 when the 3V came out.
