I recently replaced the clutch in my ranger and i put the and i hooked up the starter and turned it over and it will crank but the engine is not getting gas. When i spray starter fluid it will start but will die and it isnt geting gas. What do you think the problem could be?

Look behind the passenger side kick panel and see if the fuel inertia switched is tripped

If so the spark system is self contained, doesn't use the fuel injection computer for startup

Run your hand around bell housing to see if any wires might have gotten pinched when you were bolting it up to the engine, not at all uncommon to have that happen

When key is turned on the computer boots up and the CEL(check engine light) should come on, if not then computer is not powering up, so no fuel injectors.

Fuel pump
You should hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds, but only 2 seconds, when you turn the key on(assuming computer is booting up)
Its not quiet, you can hear it in the cab, a HUMMMM, for 2 seconds
Turn key on and off as much as you like to either determine you do or do NOT hear it

If you don't hear it then you found the problem

There is a 20amp fuse in engine fuse box for the fuel pump, I think #22
There is also a Fuel Pump(FP) relay in that fuse box
It should "click" closed for 2 seconds then "click" open, each time key is turned on

This relay sends 12volts to inertia switch, see above post by blackwidow
