Saw a little SUV parked in the driveway of a trailer home, so I walked up to it. As I looked at the badge it read Bronco ii XLT and thought “WTH is this”. It was not in too bad of shape so I knocked on the door and asked the old lady what she was doing with it. She said that the motor was blown and $300 would be sufficient enough to take it off her hands. Once I got back from vacation with the hopes it would still be there, I purchased it and called a tow truck to pick it up. Turns out her sons forgot to screw the oil pan plug back in and didn’t attach the spark plug wires correctly to the distributor. Needs body work only has 70,000 some miles. Any ideas what I should do to it?

Also, i wouldnt doom the motor just yet.

Assuming its a 2.9 they have pretty resilant bottom ends. Id get a plug for the pan, throw a filter and 5qts of cheapo oil in it, fix the fireing order and see what happens, you might just get lucky.

That’s all I did plus other fluids and it runs like a dream.
