How well do the redesigned ones hold up?
I have a 2011 with roughly 82K miles and am starting to worry about the wear the have. (Every time I change the oil I can hear a light rattle for a day or two.)
I'm not a diy-er so it would go to the shop.
What's the average lifetime of the redesigned versions?
Should I worry or no.

PS oil change regularly

My credo
Lead follow or get out of my way
I think with proper maintenance using good full synthetic oil and Motorcraft filters,,, you should see 200K. But... I'm a believer. The haters will say different.

One thing I noticed with one of my 4.0L SOHC's years ago... after an oil change... the first start up I would get a rattle from what I assumed was the timing chains. I started filling the new oil filter before installing it... no more rattle. Been filling my oil filters ever since.

I replaced my timing chain tensioners somewhere around 80-100K miles and am at 241K miles now with the second set and all seems to be well. The original ones were not bad when I replaced them. I just found a good deal on them and decided to replace them as a maintenance item because of all the bad thing reported about the early timing chain tensioners.

I still have the original timing chain guides. So, you with running the newer version, you should have many miles to go before having to do anything with them.
