I have a beautiful 1999 Ford Ranger XLT standard cab with the 2.5L 4 cylinder engine, automatic transmission and the stepside bed.The previous owner painted the truck to a current ford color (BLUE) and it runs like brand new.Has 199,500 miles.

I currently live in Hardburly,Kentucky. I also happen to be a right leg amputee

Welcome to TRS :)

Good year for a Ranger, well they all are really, lol.

2.5l is a Lima engine, a stroked version of the 2.3l Lima(Pinto) engine, used first in 1974 in the Ford Pinto, and used until mid 2001 in Rangers as the 2.5l version.

Very reliable engine, not great on power/weight ratio but "takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'"

You have a 3rd generation Ranger, 1998 to 2012, these got new front suspension and Returnless fuel system, running 55psi pressure

The 2.5l SOHC 4cyl was replaced in mid 2001 with the 2.3l DOHC 4cly Duratec/Mazda L engine, no relation to the 2.3l Lima

Welcome to TRS. Is your truck 4x4. If so your truck is in the year range to have vacuum-operated hubs that are extremely unreliable. You may want to invest in some manual locking hubs if this is the case. There is also a mod you can do to your vacuum hubs to make them always-locked if you're on a budget. Other than that the truck should serve you very well, and there's a great community ready to help if ever it doesn't
