The 3.5TT and 5.0 also come with the 10 speed so … why the measly lil 2.7TT ?
I think he is kind of trying to stay close to base model for price comparisons with the base model Ranger.

Exactly.

The price (if those prices are close to correct) don't seem so bad. Particularly when you factor in 4k or 7k in rebates and dealer wiggle.

Which there won’t be much of for the first year or two. There never is on a new model. But that is nothing new.

I optioned a supercrew FX4 up to $46,345. Yikes! Looks like I'll be in my '99 for a while. Nice truck though.

It adds up pretty quick.

Mine is pretty basic, nicer radio with a rubber floor, spray in bedliner, XL/STX/FX4 with the tow package.

A basic Ford Ranger XL extended cab 4x4 in silver is $29,555 ($429 a month @ 72 months)

A basic Ford F-150 extended cab 4x4 in silver is $34,215 ($463 a month @ 72 months). So for $34 more a month, I could be driving a Ford F-150.

A Ford Ranger XLT extended cab 4x4 in silver would be $34,300

A Ford Ranger Lariet extended cab 4x4 in silver would be $38,600

The truck I would want, at a minimum, would be a silver FX4 XLT crew cab. That configures to $35,210.

My dream truck, a crew cab Lariet FX4 in silver would be $39,480!

I'm not happy with these numbers.

Out of curiosity, I went to Toyota, and built a silver extended cab Toyota 4x4 for $27,805

Yeah I had the green light from the wife for a Ranger as we’ve been a single car household. Saw those prices and the green light turned red quick.

Every picture I see "The Ranger" has the cool looking " Raptor " fender vents. Most of the articles say only the LARIAT trim has the functional vents. So do all ranger have them and are only functional on Lariats, or are we only seeing Lariats ( fully optioned ) Rangers?

I don't know how good the thing is working.

When you start out and select 4wd an XL starts out at $28,460. Hit configure and without doing anything else it pops up at $29,555 in the next window.

XLT - $31,940/$33,055
Lariat - $36,210/$37,305

Not sure why that would change without selecting something else. I can select/unselect cab config and 2wd/4wd and it changes before hitting configure.

I think that we need to remember that these are MSRP prices. Hopefully the dealers will shave some money off of those prices. But as of right now, the new Ranger starts out at $4,000 more than a Chevy Colorado. I think Ford needs to do better. They need to sell the Ranger to regain their lead in overall truck sales. At these prices, people may still buy the Colorado.

It is still new to the market too. It seems prices always come down a bit a few years down the road. The Colorado has been on the market for almost 5 years and the Tacoma 2.

The kinda dicy part about the Ranger is that it isn't really a new truck. It is a 2011 truck that received a facelift in 2015 and some tweaks for the US market. How much more can they charge to bring an old design here just because it is new?

I was surprised by the pricing until I speced out a new ram for myself and was looking at 65k

I thought the idea was to bring back the Ford Ranger, a competent truck at a reasonable price. Just because a well optioned Chevy Colorados go for 35k, doesn't mean a stripped down ranger has to cost almost 30k, then damn near 40k for a fully loaded Ranger. The Ford Raptor didn't even cost 40k when it was new to the market and it had a lot of buzz too. I think ford is exploiting the market with it's "NEW FORD RANGER" that is 11 years old, when they could have waited until the next model refresh and then give us a TRULY NEW Ranger. 40k is a lot of money to me, but so is 24k for bare bones. Either way I think pricing is on the steep side.

Edit : Now a F-150Raptor starts at 50k, with a smaller, but stronger engine, and aluminum body panels and what seems like less options than ever. So if we do get a Raptor Ranger, what will it start at 45K? everybody is not rich and can drop 40k on a midsized puickup. IIRC the reason they stopped making the Sport Trac was because pricing was too close to F-150's, De Ja VU
