Using the M5R2 from a 4.2 F-150 and a new Motorcraft starter for a '96 5.0 F-150. The boss for the starter is too big to go into the separator plate.
I have an old 302 starter and it fits perfectly.
I grab my old automatic seperator plate and the old starter fits it perfectly, the new fits it the same.
Should the '96 starter be bigger than the older starter and the V6 starter hole? Starter locating boss is 4-1/8", hole is 4-3/32"... so stinking close. I didn't grab the old one but it is probably around 4-1/16" for how it fits.
