No big hurry, I am probably not going to try to crack the A/C nut until next spring.

Get to it
hey guys, i went with a 4.0l radiator from my local yard, cut and dropped the radiator support down and welded it back in. fit like a glove and got it all hooked up, damn thing leaks... good thing is the yard has at least 10 more to choose from. however i found this online this morning, anyone with experience or thoughts? 3 row all aluminum, i'm tempted to just get it and see what happens.

If you don't want to tuck the radiator into the core support further forward than the stock location, then yes, that model looks like it should work fine.

Hey all, I know this is an older thread, but instead of making new one, just carry on here.

I have the Northern 205138 rad for my swap. I am having troubles finding a proper fitting rad cap for this. as this rad seems to be a touch thicker in the screw down part. what have you had luck with and how many pounds are you running? I am thinking 13-15 should be fine.

cheers thanks

I have the exact same radiator. A standard radiator cap from any parts store will work. It's just a tight fit. Northern suggests a 20-22 lb cap, but I'm using a 16 lb cap on mine.

I used a rad for a 4.0 for my year truck and an 3000cfm puller electric fan wired in with an after market controller. The radiator is tiny in my opinion so I used a 180° thermostat so it opens sooner it stays cool and runs great, obviously if you are gonna be flat to the floor alot you want a different radiator.

Use a Northern brand Ranger V8 swap radiator. In the middle of my 363 stroker swap, leaves a lot of room. No hacking up the hell out of your core support.

Why dont you guys just use the stock v8 explorer radiator? It fits perfect even with the clutch fan and shroud

I have a Duff V8 swap radiator... looking through this thread it appears VERY similar to that Northern brand one. I don't think Duff made them and I seem to recall that it came in a box from another company, either Ron Davis or Big End, I can't remember which. Works well enough I guess although it's started leaking.

Pics or it didn't happen :p
