2002 ranger 4x4, 8.8 torsen locker rear differential. Passenger side axle won't go in quite far enough to get the c-clip out. Any ideas?

Figure out what the head of your wheel stud is hitting, then turn the axle shaft so it isn't hitting that. Then you will get just enough. It may also help to turn the shaft so the gap in the C-clip is facing you, and use a small pry bar to pry inward on the shaft a little.

Possible spider gear slop can you carefully pry out on the shaft gear? If there is slop in the spiders you will need to address that. Are there metal shavings in the bottom of the housing?

Torsen. No spiders.

My experience with Torsen units is that they are quite hard to get the axle shafts in far enough to get the clips in and out. You must make sure that the head of the wheel stud isn't hitting anything, and you usually gotta pry on it just a bit.
