I need to replace the door trim, that has the rubber covering, on the outside of the window. Ford calls it the window belt weatherstrip. I ordered it and after looking at the new one, it looks like it may take a special tool to remove the old one. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the old one?

It looks like installation is simple by just snapping it in place.

On a 2002 I'm not sure...did you try Youtube or the on-line manual?

They often have instructions on the EBSCOHOST site but you gotta dig through it...I will have a look for you since I need to look up a wiring spec on the 96...

EDIT: There is a bit of information on the window seal trim removal but it doesn't look complicated enough to actually warrant further explanation. If you need to remove the glass...that is another story altogether...and there is a step by step in the on-line repair manual...

This link gets you to the main page...login is already there...tech/tech...

Navigate to the proper year/make/model and then choose the Body/Glass and Windows...

Oh, my mistake...

http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319

The password and username should auto fill but are both "tech" no quotes...

But, again, not much to them from what I saw on the manual. Looks like they just pop in or out...maybe some of those metal clip fasteners on the edges of the trim. Quite often they will show a special tool if they are needed...

I will check on Youtube later too...someone must have recorded a how to on this...

I have the Ford repair manual for the 02 Ranger but haven't look at it. Items like this are usually hard to find and they don't give some of the important details. Typical instruction are "remove" and "replace". I will try a Google search to see if I can find anything.

I found one video but it was specifically for 2003 to 2007 or something like that...I didn't watch it for very long either because it wasn't an actual motion video...just images with text describing what to do and what to remove...

There were others but I got sidetracked...

I need to do this too and if anyone found any more information on the removal process it would be greatly appreciated! Worst case I can always break one and see how it went in (I only need the driver's side at the moment), but that's pretty wasteful and hopefully unnecessary...
