Yes, there is a LARGE society of people that believe the earth is flat. I clicked on the article thinking it was a joke and no it is real people thinking the earth is a flat disc with a 150' ice wall (Antarctica) around the edge to keep the water in. They say it costs far less money to fake a space program (NASA) than to actually have a space program. They deter scientific proof that the earth is a sphere with the gesture of government coverups. I know you all will get a good laugh when you google the "facts" about flat earth lol. I just can't believe people are believing this....

It has been a thing for a while now. A resurgence in the "Flat Earth" idea is dumb, but to me it is a metaphor for not believing everything you are told and go out and explore to get your own answers.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
There are some people who believe foreign vehicles are better than American vehicles, too. Who'd want a car built by lazy, stupid Americans like us?
It's too bad there isn't a market for ridiculous ideas because there certainly isn't a shortage of them.

Well most people can't prove the earth is round in any meaningful way, so why not think its flat, :)
Really doesn't matter to most peoples daily lives

But just for the record a Flat earth is a fairly new concept.
Prior to any scientific evidence, anyone who cared to think about the earth as a whole, thought it was round, especially if they ever climbed a higher hill or were near a large body of water
You can see the earth's curve
Our forefathers were ignorant not stupid, lol, so for anyone who cared about it, the earth was round.
And No, Columbus and the sailors aboard with him did NOT think the earth was flat, but they didn't know how far it was to the next land fall for food and water, and that was the scary part

Eratosthenes of Greece wrote it all down in around 200BC, so like most things, the earth being round was known much earlier just written down for the record in 200BC
He calculated the circumference of the earth and was pretty close considering he used a short baseline for the calculations.

But to most people its one of those things like Gravity, why would you even need to write it down, lol, you can SEE the earth is curved, same as you can SEE gravity at work, or feel it when you trip and fall :)
Isaac Newton and the apple, you really think people didn't know about gravity before that..................

To most people at the time it was a waste of paper/papyrus to write it down, but most couldn't read in any case, lol.

There are people who think Gravity is not what we think it is, for example: when you drop a ball the ball doesn't fall, the earth expands out and meets the ball
The earth/universe is expanding constantly, as we are, and thats what holds us on the surface, and thats what gives us the "illusion" of gravity :)

Flat Earth, no Gravity, hey it is all just good fun, until someone loses an eye
Never run holding scissors :)

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I think in this era of Internet trolls and instant media and Fake News everywhere, some guy just said to some unsuspecting people " Hey, What if the Earth is Flat", then he nudged his buddy and said, "Watch this, Mwahahahaha!" and now the they think they have stumbled upon a concept so foreign to them that it has to be true. The Idea of flat earth had almost disappeared and now it's all over the place, again.

Yeah the whole gravity thing is funny too. The flat earthers think that gravity doesn't exist and that earth is constantly moving up at 32fps or something like that so instead of gravity holding us down when we jump it is the earth moving up.... I just can't grasp there are people out there believing this all because they look outside and it "looks" flat or the even better one, when I climb a hill and look at the horizon it is always eye level. Or there was a guy who took a level on a plane and it stayed level the whole time instead of being off level to compensate for the curve of the earth. There's literally TONS of reading about this. We have been slow at work so it's interesting to read stuff like this to see how gullible people are.

Hug and kiss, well....not my thing but OK and thank you, I will pass, on the death part though :)

Beliefs never need to be proven, its a belief so it is true by default to the believer

You can try to disprove a belief, but its a Fool's Errand, since you are obviously not a "believer" your proof can not be taken as valid.
And if you are a believer then there is no reason to prove anything, any belief is true by default.

If it makes you happy then it must be true

If it makes you unhappy then its obviously a Government plot of some sort and usually they are in league with the lizard people living in our hollow earth.

By the way, the fact the earth is hollow is proof the earth isn't flat, geeze some people and their beliefs, they focus on the details but miss the totally obvious entirely :)
