1991 ranger, 4.0 5spd, 4x4, singlecab.

Jump started a stubborn tractor, parked the truck and later discovered the ranger had no power to anything. What fuse is likely to have blown?

Also, behind the battery was a white barrel fuse holder, I opened it up and failed to catch the fuse and it ran off somewhere. Does anyone know the amperage of this fuse?

looking online for owners manuals and diagrams for the fuse locations isn't pleasant.

I actually just helped a dude whos civic had no power to anything. It was a blown 80amp battery fuse. Not sure on the ranger, but its probably something big like that.

Your barrel holder isn't a factory part, so that's why it isn't in your factory literature. Throw a dart at the fuse rack in your local parts store.

For your no power issue look in the under hood fuse block. Look for blown fuses, and check for power getting to it at the stud where the battery cable hooks up.

Well... I feel like a complete fool despite the fact I've never had it happen nor seen anyone do it.

0v at the damn battery posts. I ruined the battery?!

Thanks for the tidbit on the barrel holder, I'll have to take a look and follow the wire loom. It looks factory with the way it runs the cowl with 2 clips for the loom and under the drivers floor board.

It is a rare occurrence, but it can happen. It is usually a sign that the battery was already on the way out.
