its metal. hack it out and start over.

make it mo betta. your not mass producing soyou can make it stout as hell. get some box or rectangle tube to make the mount stantion/torque box from and tie it up from there. or just break up some 10 gauge and copy what they did.

Damn I'm glad I live in the desert! The unfortunate thing is that the older rangers are getting hard to find in the local yards.

Managed to round up a donor. Going in the am to take the bed (will post photos - amazed I haven't been pulled over), and either take the whole cab, or from the firewall down. Not sure yet. Depends on the weather.

Actually, I started this post because I cannot find a cab mount. Any suggestions??

Too bad you weren't looking about a year ago. I was cutting up a rotten cab, but the floor was pretty good.

Honestly I need to post an ad on here. I have a laundry list of stuff I'm still looking for to either repair or upgrade my 88.

Got inspired a year ago or so to put some time and effort into this thing by your hillbilly deluxe build thread, and a few others on here. Still thinking about picking up the Ranger GT I looked at a few days ago for its 4.0 for mine, but too much other stuff going on right now.

Guy that has it literally has an entire field of Rangers and B2s. Said he never heard of the Ranger Station. Oh, and they're all for sale. [emoji55]

Yikes! I'd grab a needle scaler and some POR 15 and hit the back half of that frame while the bed is off.

Planned on media blasting it with coal slag or glass bead (whatever is cheaper at Harbor Freight) while I had it apart. Think I'd be better off with a scaler?

While we're here, POR 15 instead of U-Pol? Or just rustoleum rusty metal primer for the winter?

Normally I'd never consider restoring one this bad (have restored Dodge cars and Honda bikes in the past; not a Ford guy), but there's a story behind this particular Ranger I'll post when I get its restoration thread started.

You need to hit it with a scaler before you media blast it.

Blasting will remove surface rust and small flakes. The scaler is for large flakes.

I would go POR-15. I wish I'd had the money to do that when I did mine the last time. In a few years when I have some more money coming in I will probably strip the frame again and do just that.

tough call on the por 15.

not sure i want to use it because its so hard to un-use for modifications and you can still get rust through that is hidden.

so heavy rust primer and periodic wire wheelins has been getting me by.

the key is complete disassembly of all of it...all the brackets and k members...treatment and then reassemble...

Appreciate the pointers. Had Rust Repair Inc. In Castle Shannon do the cab repair. $435 Later, turned out beautiful and took 48 hours from drop off to pick up.

Their facial expressions were Priceless when they saw it, though. I thought they were quite literally going to pass out when they saw the bed. [emoji1787][emoji1787]

Next step is patch in the Raybuck floor and cab corners, then drench in rusty metal primer for the winter.

I'm reading... be like where? place like that really exist? Castle Shannon Pennsylvania, that almost sounds romantic! Anyhow the place does exist looks like they do good work too! I would have to say they have a niche carved out or should I say rusted out for their self!
