It doesn't?
I still say Scorpion. As a prefix
The Scorpion Ranger. 4 wheel disc brakes. Blue calipers black wheels blue ovals on the center caps. Black mesh grill with custom Ranger logo with a scorpion tail coming from the "R" and arching over the "anger". And one on the tailgate, no side badges just for originality. All or 4wd (I guess), but Street tuned suspension available. Oooh and a turbo 4 cylinder and a 10 spd automatic transmission.
Scorpion is the codename of the 6.7 Powerstroke, I doubt Ford would want the confusion.

Might accidentally put a Scorpion in a Scorpion...

ZR2 was a Ford package, right? :D

Dang Chevy always keeps copying Ford. :temper:

Well it is too bad Pontiac had the Phoenix - because the Ranger is a mythological creature that has risen from the ashes of its predecessor.

Maserati has boomerang - playing on both the return and the Australian heritage of the current Ranger. Outback being used as well.

Loan Ranger - as that's what we all will need to buy one.

My final answer: Mountain Ranger.
If only Pontiac had made trucks.

I still like Warden. But other options would be Adder, Serpant, Venom or Rattler (snake words like cobra), other ones could be Emperor, Conqueror, Crusader, Persuader... running out of things now.

Maybe Ford should bring the 'Maverick' name back for something:

Definition: "an independent individual who does not go along with a group or party"

Be a good name for an adventure vehicle.

Ford has recently filed to trademark the name "Puma". I can't see driving any type of truck or SUV that's named "Puma".

It either sounds to soft.... or to much like:

What the hell. The Ranger name was used on the Ford Edsel (car), might as well recycle a car name for a truck or SUV.

They already have, although it's not currently in production, I don't think. In Europe, the first generation Ford Escape was called Ford Maverick.

As for the American Maverick, my grandmother had one. It was a yellow two door, with black stripes over the hood, roof and trunk (I think, from what I've read, that it might have been the Grabber version, with that stripe package).

I had a 72 maverick. Yellow with a vinyl top. Was not the grabber. Straight 6/automatic

Seems to be a logical choice..

Level3 or Level III or L3

Since we left off with a Level 2 FX4 and this could possibly be considered the third major redesign of the Ranger it makes some sense

I also like Trail King suggested earlier..
