so to my knowledge we have the 9007 bulbs, and both the high and low beams work off of these 2 bulbs.

if i were to get an hid kit for these would the hid kit work for both high and low beams then?

My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
An actuator shifts the position of HID capsule, which in effect raises and lowers the projected beam of light. That's why with cheap kits you lose the low/high beam function; there's no actuator.

If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
you would need to take apart the headlight and use a lexus HID projector beam housing. it has a curtain inside it for high and low beams. its long and complicated and requires patience to do it but I have seen 3 threads about it on Toyota nation and one thread on it at Ih8mud.com where it has been done using lexus projector beam housings. going to try it soon on the F150 I am picking up after the winter season.

if you go HID do it right, don't use the cheap hid kits that basically puts hid bulbs into your halogen housings, totally illegal and will blind(in most apps) the oncoming traffic...

Don't be an ass, do it right.

hence the reason i am taking the headlights apart and using HID projector beam housings inside a clear headlight. I have seen bad conversions and agree, use the proper lens or don't do it........ like wearing somebody else's prescription glasses if you don't do it right.

Look for Bi-Xenon HIDs. They have the highbeam & lowbeam functionality from the get go.
HOWEVER, a projector is still advised since the factory reflector tends to result in far too much glare on drivers in the opposite lane. A properly mounted projector with HID lights would solve the issue.
On that note, search YouTube for HID Projector. There's a four-vid series there that actually does the installation VERY well.

Good luck.
