I would do neither. They don't offer much protection, they limit approach angle, and most aftermarket accessories like that are made from thin (very thin) walled tubing. If you want front end protection, build your own bumper/grille guard.

Just my .02

On a black truck you could use the chrome and look good. Any other color truck and I would have said black. But Chrome accessories+black vehicles=nice.

although i do adore the look of a truck that is all black with all black accessories( black rims, black window tint, black nerf bars, black headlight covers, black taillight covers, black bull bar, black grill) just plain all black..but since you already got some chrome, Id get a chrome one...(dont tell me ranger i said that:))

Bull Bars are not great for off-road. I'd never waste my money on it.

But if you want an opinion on it, black.

Chrome won't get you home.

And it's a PITA to keep nice looking.

Black is really fun to deal with when it rusts though, I have a black grille guard for my F-150 that I need to re-repaint and a black rollbar that I also need to repaint for my Ranger... rust gets in behind the powdercoating and just goes nuts. Chrome usually has a better warrentee than black too. If my stuff would look good with chrome, I wouldn't be messing around with black stuff... but some of my stuff is homemade and I can't do chrome, so I am stuck with black to keep it all on the same page.

I would go chrome, it is much tougher than paint/powdercoating, and will compliment your other chrome acessories better.

And don't even get me started on keeping black looking decent...:stop:

Overbuilding front bumpers/brackets are a great way to get your truck on a frame puller or just plain totalled in an accident. On modern vehicles they take the heat rather than passing it onto the frame.
