First off, thanks to all that have posted some great DIY info on here, charts, specs, how to's, etc... This is why I love forums more than just DIY youtube videos, although those are helpful too, forums like this just give you so much valuable information so you don't have to guess, make several different trips back and forth to the parts store, mess up, etc...
Anyway, I decided to give my very used Ranger some love today because the cold weather is upon us and I wanted to get this stuff done for peace of mind and so that I knew all the parts were as good as they could be for winter.
At almost 243,000 miles I changed the transmission fluid and filter and also added a bottle of Lucas trans fix to the mixture as my 4th gear sometimes shifts in hard, I know I am destined for another transmission at some point, but this one is still very strong and I'm going to run it until it goes.
Also, changed the rear diff fluid with Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil with the friction additive already added since I have the 8.8 limited slip.
Changed the transfer case fluid as well, it was gross and low. Being that this used to be my old work truck, it's safe to say that if I go by averages of how often we use 4x4 at work, this truck has been shifted into 4x4 or 4Low close to 12,000 times...I'm amazed at how well everything still works, seriously.
I did not buy enough gear oil for the front diff, so that will have to wait until next weekend but I'm pretty happy with the results and knowing that the drivetrain is healthier and happier and you all made this process much easier. Thanks!
