mine does the same thing but its a 4.0 some days ,extremely cold, it takes 5 times starting before it stays running unless i floor it on start up which isn't good at all but I've narrowed it down to fuel system like the filter or sending unit haven't had a chance to change had to take care of other problems like hubs and brakes going out.

my 94 b3000 does the sluggish thing to but like i only notice it when i have to get up to high speeds quick, like when i went to school i had to get on a highway right out of the parking lot an i dont kno how many times ive almost got creamed by a big rig cuz my truck cant get up to speed quick but it only did it for a min then went away for me.

I've also heard that the intake gaskets get pin holes in them and it will cause a sluggish take off and start up

If thats the problem, then replacing them should fix it. However, I'm not sure if thats the culprit

Might be a temperature sensor that's a little off or could be a bad connection I guess.
