Alright yall. I fi ally got around to dropping my Explorer 5.0 in my 87 ranger but ran into some problems. Im using stock gt convertable mounts bc they wete $30 brand new and saw a couple people run them without issue. Ive got the mounts in these holes(pic #1).
After I mounted the trans I found that the whole engine and trans are rotated-as in the passenger side is a little higher than the driver side.
Most importantly the oil pan is currently sitting on the pass side I beam(pic#2&3) and I get less than an inch of clearance when i push the trans as high as it will go. Im hoping to kill two birds with one stone and put some spacers between the engine and the mount on the driver side to maybe level out the engine and give me some oil pan clearance.
Suggestions? I really dont want to have to pull the engine again as it was a huge PITA to get in there. Anybthoughts on mounting location? Is the motor too far forward?
