I was looking at some of these on eBay. What exactly is your engine trans combo, gt40p heads?I used the Sanderson Blockhuggers on my build.
Are you responding to a particular post? When did any of the big 3 ever center the engine in the bay? At least 99% of the time it's offset to the passenger side for steering and brake clearance. Not only that, it helps offset the weight of the driver. Which side is the 4x4 front drive shaft on? Which side is the fuel tank on?
Most importantly, the only thing that isn't Ford and has the diff offset like most '80s-'90s Ford's is Chevy's Astro. Why do you think the torque arm is on the driver side on '82-'02 Camaros and '84-'96 Corvettes? The pinion gear is already on the passenger side of center even when the diff is centered.
Forget centering the engine.
Thats awsome to know mine is a 2wd street and strip truck with a c4 in it so should have no prob clearing mine thanksYes the tri Y's work I have them on my 88 only thing is I have an aod in my truck so had to bend then to clear the bell housing one thing that I had to do was cut the front port on the drivers side header and adjust it because it kept burning plug wires. My truck is 2wd not sure on the 4x4 trucks.
If you have a pan fill C4, then you'll need to tweak them to fit the bigger bell these transmissions came with, same as with an AOD.Thats awsome to know mine is a 2wd street and strip truck with a c4 in it so should have no prob clearing mine thanks
U told me the 88400 fit great on your truck last yr?u made it sound like u already had them installed in your truck??Anyone have any updates on header fitment from personal experience??
I'm currently gathering knowledge and parts to start my swap. I want it done by spring and I've got the free time and money finally, due to a factory closure. Just bought a decent little 87 single cab shortbed manual. A 30,000 mile 1992 Thunderbird 302 H.O. and AOD will be here tomorrow. I've also got the filter relocator and engine mount plates, but need to buy convertible mounts I think. Still in buying mode right now..
I'll be using an AOD for now, so the header fitment concerns me. So far it's looking like a toss-up between the 88400 and the tri-y's.
