I have read and re read this thread http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/5_0_swap_in_newer_ranger.shtml and it doesn't mention the answers to the 2 questions I have. 1) i know on the older trucks you have to notch the heater box if you have ac, I have a 2000 and want to keep the ac do I need to notch the box? 2) can you install the engine and transmission/transfer case together or do they have to be separated? I don't have the donor here yet to check

You don't need to notch the heater box on the 2000 model. You may be able to install them together but it probably isn't going to be pretty. Others on here can lend more info as I have not tried it myself with that particular set up.

Motor & trans can go in together, but you need to remove the upper intake plenum. Should be able to use the stock V8 explorer motor mounts...
