I had to cut one of my U joint caps in order to remove my front driveshaft. Do they still make these?

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
Caps as in, the part that contains the needle bearings? or the part that straps over the u-joint end and holds it in place?

^^^ I had the same question. A new u-joint has new caps so that couldn't be the question...I hope. So now we need to know what is this "cap" the OP is talking about? Pictures would help!

The straps that hold the front of the driveshaft onto the differential pinion are available at any parts store. Bring in an old one or a cap off the u-joint (keep track of the little rollers inside) if possible to compare, it is one of the parts most parts counter people will struggle with getting you the right one.

I don't think you could cut the cap off of a cross without also cutting the yoke... so I think the cap (or cup) is not it... at least I hope it isn't.

It's the part that holds the u joint to the yoke. The actual needle bearing cap didn't make it either but I know they make the u joints still. My torx bit broke off inside one of the bolts and I rounded the head off with a wrench so I just hacked it off. I have the other so I could find one close enough if they carry them.
