So I was looking at an F-350 the other day and I confused myself. lol. What is the difference between the 250, 350, and so on. I have seen a F850 before (HUGE). What makes them different. A lot of times the 350's have the same engine as a250. I'm just wondering what categorizes a truck into the higher numbers. What can a F-850 do that a F-550 can't ? What can a f-350 do that a f-250 can't ? :icon_confused:

250 HDs and 350s the biggest difference is the 350 can get you a dually.

Atleast in the OBS years.

A 750 vs a 550 buys you a whole lot more capacity, air brakes, class 8 (ability to tow semi trailers) capability...

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
It's capacity and the ability to do work.

F150 = 1/2 ton
F250 = 3/4ton
F350 = 1 ton
etc.

But it's more than payload, it's towing capacity, and more. Different engine options, different transmissions, different axles and suspensions, different brakes, frame strength, ability to add PTO, etc.

... and, of course, PRICE $$$$$$

From a 250 to a 350 the biggest difference is usually the springs. You can get a 250 duallly. F-450 and 550 usually have beefier axles as well and different tunes.

F-650+ is a totally different truck.

I have never seen a factory 3/4 ton dually.
We had a regular customer at my last shop who had a silver 2011 regular cab, long bed, gas dually 250.

It was the most ridiculous looking thing ever. It was a custom order truck and I know it was factory because I did the new car check on it. I still remember laughing my ass off when I saw it the first time.
