My trans will not shift untill the engine is warmed up. I can thow it into 2nd manually then get it to where it needs 3rd and throw it into drive or od and it drops back into 1st and my rpms shoot through the sky. My trans is rebuilt and also only has 57k on it.
This is very $%^&*(# annoying.

That could blow your engine if that keeps happening. So far you've gotten lucky!

I would say change the fluid and filter but ultimately, it might be time for a rebuild..

Haha, I doubt the 4.0 will ever blow. I've only ever heard of one blowing because the guy through 15lbs of boost at it. The top blew and not the bottom which is amazing.

It couldn't need a rebuild so soon I wouldn't think. Only 57k on it. I already serviced it. No shavings; just goop on the magnet. The additive I put it did help with hard shifting. However I did find a m50d today at the junkyard which I jumped on. Less than 200 bucks.

My Explorer did something similar. It wouldn't shift out of first until it hit redline when it was cold. If I shifted it manually it was fine. The governor in the tail of the tranny was stuck. I pulled it apart, cleaned and lubed it. It worked ok after that until it quit shifting a year later and I put a junkyard replacement in it. :dunno:

That sucks dude. I can get it to shift by fooling it. Ill floor it in od so itl think it needs to downshift to pass somebody then I let off and do it again till its in 3rd. Then its ok. All in all its a strong transmission when its warmed up lol.

Can't wait to stick my m50d in it.
