If the hurst shifter seals the M5 transmission then how would you vent it?

I took a cutoff wheel and cut a shallow groove in the piece that sits directly on top of the transmission. It runs from the opening in the center of the plate to the outer edge, and it's maybe 1/16th of an inch deep (a bit less than half the thickness of the piece). It lets the pressure escape without pushing transmission fluid everywhere.

There are pictures in this thread (not mine but you get the idea): http://www.rangerforum.com/threads/shane-hurst-vent-question.4185/
