It started a year ago when what I thought was the slave cyl went out. It got hard to shift, had to shut the truck off to get in to 1st or rev.
I replaced the clutch, throw out bearing, slave cyl.
Had trouble bleeding the clutch and finally got it to some what work. It got a little better over time but still was hard to shift. I bench bled the master several time, it would shift good for a day then get worse. I replaced the master and hyd line with a pre-bled unit but it still is always hard to shift. Doesn't grind but doesn't want to go into gear.
Pull up to a stop sign and push the clutch in, it creeps forward, hard to put into neutral some times but not always when first stopped.
Entirely ew clutch system, no air in it as far as I can tell, still doesn't feel like it's disengaging.

Any ideas?

Possible pilot bearing (in flywheel on a 4.0).

Hey, food for thought. I am experiencing something similar after a tranny swap. I wouldn't be so quick to call it a bad part, though it very well could be. I ended up installing an F550 clutch master cylinder, by just making the square hole a little bigger, but it din't solve the problem. While it clearly shows awesome pedal pressure and stretches out the slave well, the clutch still wasn't properly disengaging. Last night I lowered the rear of the tranny down (after disconnecting the tranny crossmember and driveshaft ) and tried running her through the gears. I was able to get better shifts this time but nowhere near perfect. It basically tells me my tailshaft was too high and creating a bind at the pilot bearing. Perhaps yours may be slightly misaligned as well.

Wish ya luck. I know very well how frustrating it can be.

So I figured out the problem. The slave cylinder came appart. The snap ring was riding on the inut shaft which gouged it and would catch the pressure plate fingers causing the input shaft to spin. This caused the hard shift and creep in 1st gear. I repaired the input shaft and replaced the flywheel, clutch assembly. The luke ceramic clutch was a horrible clutch and I do not recomend it. I put a new premium clutch from rock auto in and she shifts like a dream.
