Trying to help my brother find a college vehicle, and he wants a truck. Not much luck with Rangers, but found a:

2000 F150 4X4 reg cab
105,000 mi.
Automatic
4.2 liter

on a local mustang board, respected guy, good price.

Any trouble spots with the v6? trouble spots overall with the 2000 F150's? Real life gas mileage numbers?

That would be pretty good i guess. my freind has one and he wants the v8 in it really bad because it feels really under powered. The gas milage he gets varys, he was getting around 16-17 highway and now he gets around 10-12 mpg and he had a tune up donne and new filters and the fluids changed. It still gets pretty bad mileage and it has a 25 gallon tank so it cost almost 100$ to fill up. I would look for something else if he wants more mpgs but then again his is a 99' so they might have changed abit. also there is no room/comfort in the standard cab.

My mom had an 02 5spd. It was a pretty great little truck. We never had any problems with it. We got pretty decent gas milage out of it. Some common problems I've heard is that they hydrolock pretty easy. Radiator likes to leak into the intake. The cab is kind of small but it's not that bad. The space behind the seat is pretty damn big. I use to see a lot of them with a 12" sub fitting in there pretty easily. Check out www.v6f150.net there's a lot of tech there i think. There's also a 12 second v6 there.

Goodluck with the truck.

my buddies working on his 2nd f-150 3.2l v6 last 1(97) had over 200,000 before he traded on his 03,

my 06 4.2 has 20,0000 and it puts out good HP(202hp) for a v6, hasent giving me no problems, about 19-20 on the highway

my sis boyfrieends 2000 f150 has 65,000 only problem ist that the ABS is Disabled from the previous owner

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
My dad gets 19-20 out of his 97 with a 4.6L...... I CAN get 19 on the highway with my Suburban if i keep my foot out of it....... that might explain why my dad get 19-20 out of his F-150, he drives slow.

the Y2K Tacoma I was leasing got 24 across the board. 3.4L V6, 5spd, 4x4, supercab. Dropped to 22 with the A/C on.
