replacing the transmission

my 4r44e was showing a delay when I went from rev to drive all other gears were fine, so I replacing the trans and decided to tear apart my old trans and found my forward clutches the fiber and metal were burnt so I might replace them and have a back up trans ,since people thought it was a pressure problem ,where is a good place to get the clutch discs ???

That would be caused by a pressure problem

The clutches and brakes(bands) are controlled by pressure routed via the valve body

Like in a manual trans if you "ride the clutch", i.e. don't release pedal all the way, it slips and heats up, making it slip more and heat up more, ect....and it shortens the life of the clutch disc

So there was a reason for forward clutch to be that way if the other clutches and the bands friction materials are not worn out as much

Clutch material and band material does wear out, same as brakes on the wheels wear out, but if one wheel's brakes were wearing out faster than the others, you wouldn't just assume it was only a pad or shoe problem and replace that pad or shoe, you would/should have a look at calipers, wheel cylinders and brake lines.

So you may have found the symptom of the slipping and slow engagement, but not the root cause of it :)
