Yes, just my point of view that when it comes to beliefs, no proof is needed so no disproof will sway the believer, as it should be with any belief
So in all of your entire life, you've NEVER changed someone's beliefs?

Through intelligent and well-informed personal discussions I've changed many people's belief structure, and in some cases I've completely reversed their course, to the point of believing the exact opposite after some additional thought and personal reflection.

I've talked a suicidal person in to not doing anything rash when they honestly believed that there was nothing else left for them on this planet..

I've changed more than one person's beliefs on abortion by using well known facts, and in some cases graphic images..

The climate here in Saskatchewan isn't that much different than North Dakota. You eventually get used to the cold. I walk four or five blocks one way to get my mail. I've been known to walk that when the wind chill is below -20*F, and I barely notice, because I'm dressed for it.

You'd love our summers up here in Saskatchewan, though. Daytime highs average around 80*F, the sun rises at 4:30am, and doesn't set until after 9:00pm.

Our landscape is generally flat, but we do have a number of lakes, river valleys, and even some forests.
Actually, that does sound nice.

In my younger days I would, I have mellowed :)

I think you are confusing belief with a point of view or a position

Someone who wants to end their pain in life is not a belief, but from a religious prospective it could be argued that NOT committing suicide is a belief.
There is no proof of Hell or that ending your own life means your soul will go to hell or worse, so NOT committing suicide for this reason would be part of a belief.
Committing suicide because you do not believe this is not a belief, its a non-belief, maybe an Atheist, but not sure that can qualify as a belief since there is nothing to prove or disprove, Atheism is about nothing

I will argue on either side of a point of view or position, I enjoy it

Flat Earther's have a belief that the earth is flat, contrary to popular opinion or FACTS
And for those who's beliefs are for the Domed Flat Earth I wouldn't want to "burst their bubble" :)

I wish Neil Armstrong was still around. I'd love to see someone try to convince him the earth is flat.

As I stated earlier, the person I talked out of suicide honestly BELIEVED there was nothing left for them in this world. That's a belief....

It is. Then again, I'm biased. If you google Tourism Saskatchewan, you can get an idea of what it's like here. Google Maps street view, too.

I have several times enterained the idea of moving to Alaska or the Northwest Territory.

I think we have different views on what a Belief is
Believing you are the best person or worst person in the world, to me, is not the same as a belief that the world is flat or North Dakota is the home of the "new world order"

I've never been to either, but I suspect that their winters are much colder than winters here. Not to mention darker.

But the summer days are much longer. In Masset on Haida Gwaii, quite a number of years ago I stumbled out of the bar at closing time, 2:00am. The sun was still up quite high. That was interesting. And Masset isn't even that far north.

I don't care about dark, I actually detest bright light and often wear my sunglasses even if it is overcast.

I wouldn't mind working light for more hours of the day though.

At church yesterday they mentioned next week is daylight savings time already. Sure doesn't feel like it.

I chuckled to myself and though "yay, after work I will be able to move snow in the daylight!"

My credo
Break it right the first time. Fix it better the next time.

My wife sprung that on me tonight after dinner. I went on my usual rant about writing angry messages to elected officials trying to get it phased out faster. This time I get the added angry of having been shifting my sleeping schedule so I'm getting up about 5 or 530, so now I'll be waking up at 4.:annoyed:
