I am troubleshooting a 1989 Bronco II. There is a two wire plug about an inch forward of the distributor on the passenger side of engine with 2 wires. These were chewed up by a rodent of some sort. Can somebody let me know what this plug goes into?

Welcome to TRS :)

Reads like the SPOUT Connector
Picture here: https://therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71433

The 2 wires will be the same color, the black or grey piece can be pulled out of the connector.

This is used to disable computer control of spark advance/retard, so you can time the distributor for base spark at 10-12deg BTDC
So you pull it out, set spark timing, and then put it back in

The 2 wires need to be connected for driving the vehicle or you would have no "vacuum advance" just RPM advance, so engine would be sluggish
But engine will start if wires are connected or not connected

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!

It is. You can just make out the outline of the edge of the injector if you zoom in and lighten the pic up.

I'll have a better look in the morning. See if I can get a better pic. Thank you for the replies.
