i see no need for a helmet unless youre doing serious rock crawling, or something like that.

it depends on how apparent the risk of whatever were doing is. ive spent a whole day taking turns jumping a ranger with broken out windows and yes, i wore a helmet because it made the event "feel safer", even though it eventually did roll over and make a huge steam show (popped off the radiator hoses when the body mounts and steering shaft failed). ive also been mud bogging in a jeep without a helmet, but didnt feel unsafe (maybe it was the roll cage that inspired confidence?)

Many of the old Die hard mud trucks never came equipped with seat belts. I have a co-worker with a scout, has no seat belts, and he does not wear a helmet.

I just splash for the most part. There has never been any danger of me hitting my head from getting jolted around so i never worry about it. I bump my head from time to time but not nearly hard enough to do anything. I will wear a helmet when It is required or I know I am going to be beatin around.

Pros - head is safe when getting jolted around and keeps you from knocking your self out behind the wheel if you hit your head.

Cons - If you get in a serious wreck you could break a few more bones like the collar bones even your neck!, And limited vision (I can't stand helmets cause I have to physically turn my head to look around and then I'm not looking ahead.)
