Hi all, I have a 93 Ranger 4.0 to which I am starting to get the infamous rocker arm clattering. In looking thru a couple articles most recommend changing out the pushrods and rockers when it starts but none mentioned what brand to use !! So the question here is do I use factory Ford parts or is there a recommended after market part that would work better ??? As always any suggestions would be appreciated !! Thanks

I'm pretty sure every one uses stock application unless they decide to put in the 422 cam.

I used this kit on my 97 a few months ago. I believe it's actually made by Elgin. Best deal I found. Lay the rocker shafts out on a clean bench, and lay the pieces out in order as you remove them. You'll understand the noises when you see the tips of the old pushrods and the cups on the rockers. Make absolutely sure you lube things up VERY WELL as you put it back together. I used STP oil treatment (old motorhead trick), and all worked out fine. The rocker/pushrod noises are gone. Didn't seem to help the little bit of piston slap I've got at startup though. That's another project.

I recommend Delta cam. They hardened factory rockers and have decent prices. I am running them on my motor with heavy springs and the 422 cam. They have held up to my lead foot for over a year now.lol
