I doubt it. The Explorer hasn't been on the Ranger platform since 02. They shared some power-train components and a wheel pattern, that was about it.

This is very likely one of those FWD dealies.

Ford already has several small/mid size suv options, whats the point of another one? Bringing back the ranger made some sense but the explorers niche is already occupied.

They said RWD. So is it just an Everest for America. I cant see ford engineering an all new explorer Just for America, but they could do the same thing that they are doing to the Ranger. Adding steel bumpers isn't even necessary on the Expo. but Rebadging the Everest as an Explorer sounds about right.

But then why bother with the Bronco?

I really don't see why RWD is a thing with the Explorer with the Bronco coming down the pipe.

UNLESS they are both Everest based (again, that platform came out the same year our current Explorer did so not much of an update) and the Bronco has a solid front axle and the Explorer is the same as the Ranger.

But I can't see the Explorer going back to a solid rear axle...

That is a pretty vague article, we will know a lot more in two weeks when they actually unveil the thing.

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
the explorer is a bothy. not really the ranger setup.

the new system which can be rear....front or awd. vw ect have systems like this out there so its not new.

platform wise for cars and police vehicles...its a good way to get cab and cop sales back.

:dunno:....its all mid level crap as they start to cram the idea of self driving electric hybrid things down our gullets.

OK, the "announced" Explorer was the ST model; 400hp and slightly more sophisticated drive train.

And during the question period, Ford stated that the Bronco wouldn't be displayed at any '19 auto show.

Which leaves me suspecting the RoW Everest/Troller T4 battle is still raging. And the '20 release date could be in jeopardy.

At least with the Ranger, they knew what the product/market was...

Their SUV market is already so stupid overcrowded as it is...
