I'm doing a V8 mod on my Ranger and using a rebuilt C5.

Does anyone know the part number for the speedometer mounting bolt that holds the cable in the transmission? I haven't had any luck finding one.

Also, this transmission has an additional hole in the passenger side of the pan. Is this OEM or has it been added? A drain plug I assume? You C5 experts please help me out. If OEM, anyone have the part number for this part?

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
the bolt you can rob from anything.

are you keeping lockup? the pan i couldnt say for sure...but they did have factory drains in some.....is this a 4x4 or 2wd application?????....

i assume 4x4 because i can not understand why anyone would be using a c5 in a 2wd application...especially with more power.

Could the extra hole be for a pan mounted dipstick? Seems like those existed at some point.

Is it a 1/4 20? I was going to buy a new one. :dunno:

Why not a C5? Are they less capable of handling power? :dunno:

No, it's because you don't need to hook a transfer case up behind it.

The C5 used behind a Ranger didn't have the torque converter lock-up either.

The C5 is a C4 and can be built to handle any amount of power. But it doesn't have an overdrive or a lockup converter and is kind of bad because of that.

It's still my favorite Ranger transmission.

.
C5s were originally equipped with a lock up converter, that was one of the main differences between it and the c4 it evolved from. The lockup functionality just quits working over time, and replacement converters are not lockup.
