Can the clutch plate squeal if it is worn?

Clutches can squeal. Mine is ceramic and makes a heck of a noise during take-off.

If yours is worn, or contaminated, and slipping it may make a nasty noise.

Yes, just like brakes squeal, similar friction materials are used for brake pads and clutch discs.
In both cases it usually indicates a problem or difference in materials.

If brake pads or clutch disc is new then could be a different material than last used on the metal rotor or flywheel, squeal should go away after a few weeks as the older material is worn off the metal parts

If clutch disc is older then it is probably slipping

And yes, as adsm08 said if there is an oil or hydraulic fluid leak into bell housing then that will cause squealing noise, check bell housing for fluid dripping out the bottom

Much appreciated folks! I don't know how old it is. My dad bought it new and as far as I know it's never been changed.

Is it ok to just replace the pressure plate and clutch disc?

No, you should also replace:
The internal Slave, it should come with new throwout bearing attached
New Pilot bearing

I would use a new Self adjusting pressure plate with new clutch disc

That's a lot of work to not do it right the first time...
