I have searched the threads and have found 1 solution to the sloppy shifter on the FM145. My plastic ball keeps coming off and falling into the tranny, and the plastic cup on top is broken in half. I have searched the junkyards in a 3 hour radius from me and all the shifters have already been snagged. Hurst nor B&M to my knowledge makes shifters for these. Before I started getting creative with the welder, I wanted to see if anybody else had solved this common problem.

I am just going to purchase a new one. I was just quoted $75.00 for the whole new shifter assembly from Green Sales. They have a lot of the older Ford items in stock, anything that you can get from the stealership, at about half the price. http://www.greensalescompany.com/

Man I wish I had known that! I just bought one from my local Dealership and it cost me $114.00. I really didnt think that was too bad though. I work in a machine shop so I am going to repair my old shifter. My plastic ball is long gone so I am going to make a new one for it.
Thanks for the info!:icon_thumby:

Yea, Green Sales is in Cincinnati too. Right there in your state. Awesome guys to work with, im impressed. I called them at 4:30pm on Monday, they had it shipping out that day. I know our ups man picks up everyday at 4:30, so how they did it, I am unsure. I would have welded a nice brass ball onto the bottom of the shifter, but realized that the white cup that is supposed to be there was broke in half. And the previous owner after doing the body lift, made the decision to extend the shifter by a piece of galvanized water pipe, left the threads on and all, and topped it off with a giant metal ball that he painted gold. Oh the hideous things people do to their vehicles.
