that seems like a much bigger problem than a little sputtering

Get a new PCV valve they are cheap it sounds like a blow by issue as far as the dirty filter. Check the compression and vacuum pressures and what do the plugs look like.
ill have to try the pcv one of these days. as for the plugs there brand new

idk what im gonna do....my engine wont even start now.

i think i figured it out. the grommet around the wires for the maf wasnt in and ever since i put it back in everything is fine
