my passenger door rattles when you hit bumps or grab the handle and shake it. its damn annoying. feels like its not being gripped tight by the latch. is there anyway to adjust this?

new latches, or new bolts.

The hinges it hangs off of might be warped or something similar, if so, then you must replace them, or work on them to get them right, but easier/quicker to replace them

the hinge side is really tight and no rattling when the door is open or any movement at all it seems as if the door isnt being held against the cab tight enough

oh, check the seals then, they can bumper the door from the cab, sometimes it will dry out, or fall off if old or not put in right, those are generally cheap =P

Could check, I have seen that happen before, maybe put some duck tape or electrical tape around the latch bolt as a spacer till it gets fixed =P

You can adjust the striker bolt that the latch catches on. Takes a torx, not sure on the size, but loosen it and move it in slightly. The door will close tighter.

I believe the torx size is 30... maybe 27. I just adjusted mine last weekend.

You didn't say what year truck this is on...

Maybe the gray plastic bushing is missing from the striker bolt (cracked and fallen off), and is why it's rattling.

On a '04 you would move the latch striker bar inward as whocares mentioned. That should tighten it up so it no longer rattles.
