My 94 B4000 (90k miles) has a coolant leak at the front of the intake. Should I do lifters while they're in there? It's something I would normally tackle myself, but I'm currently awaiting back surgery and working 60 hours a week

or... does someone locally want to make some money and fix it for me? :)

Have to remove the heads to get all the lifters out, so no.

Yes coolant leak from passenger side front(or drivers side rear) of lower intake is not uncommon
Heads are cast iron, intake is aluminum, if coolant is not changed every 2 years then you can get galvanic corrosion at the two dissimilar metals where coolant flows between head and intake

With only 90k on it, definitely not.

Lower intake seal job is pretty easy on a 4.0. Half a day job maybe. Valve cover gaskets and new injector o-rings at the same time! The one part that surprised me was how Felpro advises that you goop on a big bead of silicone on the front and back of the lower intake rather than using a gasket, seemed kinda weird.

Oh... didn't realize the heads had to come off. That sucks.

I would normally just do this myself, but I'm working 60 hours a week and nursing a bad back. Tow truck it is.

Tell mechanic to use lock-tite on the lower intake bolts, they only have about 15ft/lbs torque so tend to loosen up over time and cause rough idle and Lean Codes
