I have a 1988 bronco ll and the thing is a pain, I constantly need to refill it with gas. I believe it has a ten gallon tank. I also dont see any postings about this, but does anybody have any ideas on putting a bigger gas tank in it, like sizes and if anybody has don a conversion like this before.

Are you going by the gas gauge? What kind of mileage are you getting?

All bronco IIs were equipped with a 23 gallon tank at the factory. You should be able to go at least 350 miles to a tank and be spending close to $80 to fill it up.

If you genuinely have a 10 gallon tank somebody other than Ford put it there.

Shit dude, the B2 tanks can almost hold the total capacity of a dual tank Ranger.

my vote is for a messed up fuel gauge, if the OP has never run it dry...

Same here. When I bought my B2 I filled it up after a few days of light driving and the gauge was getting low. I only had about 150 miles on the tank but I had no idea what kind of mileage it was getting or if the gauge was working properly.

It took 12 gallons and I knew I had a bad sending unit.

I bought mine with the guage inop., the previous owner said he filled it at 200 miles. I started looking at # of gallons at 200 and realized I had barely used half a tank. Now I go 350 and start looking for gas, and still only put 18 gallons in it.

My '86 (stock, 2.9 liter EFI, 5-speed 4X4, 235,000 miles) never fails to get more than 21 mpg on the road, sometimes as much as 26 on a single tank. But my fuel gauge hasn't operated properly in years... it drops to 'E' after less than a hundred miles. I keep up with the mileage to know when to fill up. I'd suggest checking the gas mileage to see what it's really doing.

You can alway get a bigger tank if you wanted too. Just saying ;)

That's exactly what mine does too.
