My little sisters AC in her Tracker stopped working. I think i got it so it wont leak anymore, pulled a vacuum and it appears to be holding. When i was messing with it, it lost maybe a tablespoon or two of oil/dye. It has r134a fitting and was serviced in 2010 so i think it is safe to assume ot has been converted. My question is, will loosing that oil/dye hurt anything, of so how can i tell which oil to put back in?

Thanks

Pretty much all domestic makes use PAG46. It is unwise to run an AC system with low oil, just like it is to do with an engine.

Thanks for the response. Is Pag the kind of oil they would use for a retrofit, or a r134a conversion? Or would an ester oil have been used?

The Tracker is a 1992 and appears to be converted to r134a, just not airw what kind of oil to put back in it.

If it has 134 in it it better be PAG and not ester. There are some, how shall we say, chemical incompatibilities there.
