Has anybody thought about shoehorning a Detroit diesel into a ranger? I know they made some smaller models, inline 4's and such, but what models would fit? Think about how cool it would be to roll down the road in a screamin' 2-stroke Detroit . . . Anyone else feeling me? :icon_bounceblue:

Ive seen a 7.3 powerstroke put in a Ranger, so I'm sure that it can be done.

But like what purpose would you have for it, towing, wheeling, or just for personal satifaction (nothing wrong with that).

Which one would you put in and can you find a tranny that can adapt/fit in it and still keep it 4wd?

Its a great thought but would you take it one step further and do it though? If so that would probably be one sick Ranger and one diesel swap I havent heard of yet (not saying somebody hasnt done it).

To sum up what Im saying is, ya I'm feeling it.

One thing I remember about detroit diesels is they aren't fuel efficiant. That might be a down side.

since its a 2 stroke do you have to mix oil in with the diesel or is that nescacery? an intersting fact about this particular engine is that it has no intake valves just intake ports surrounding the chamber

I've found it!

A 3-53N aluminum block! They make about ~110HP and ~250ft/lbs torque, and best of all, they only weigh about 600lbs, about the weight of a small block anyway. There's no turbo (roots blown), and its all mechanical injection, simple set up! The only problem is adapting the SAE #3 bellhousing to a ford bolt pattern. . .
