Wiring Aftermarket Fogs using existing wiring

Hey guys, I recently mounted 2 Bosch Halogen fog lights on my truck, but haven't wired them. I was wondering how easy it would be to simply clip the wires from the existing fogs, and wire up the new ones, being as there is already a relay and what not reducing the need to get a harness for them. Yes i have also searched for an answer but didn't really find what I was looking for.

As long as your aftermarket fogs are no more than 100 watts each I would say you would be fine.

Alright sounds good. Any specific things to know about the wires going to the bulbs? I'm assuming that Red is the hot lead, brown is ground, but blue I don't know what that does.

Usually there are two wires... Anyway, get a multi meter, connect the brown to the ground on the meter and connect the positive to one of the other wires, turn the fog on ( the switch on in the cab) and see if you have voltage, if you don't try another wire. If you do great! you know those are your wires. One tid bit of advice, don't use tape, get shrink wrap...

Check out the wiring diagrams in the tech articles section of this site. That should help you figure out the wires.

Wow. I was on my phone last night when I replied. Now, as I look in the tech articles, I don't see a good diagram for you. Here is one that might get you close.

Not sure why you are seeing 3 different wires. Is that really the fog light harness? Go with Haywire's technique and you see what you can find out. This is a good, basic project to practice your electrical investigative/troubleshooting skills.

Yeah I may have to double check on that. Thanks for all the advice and that wiring diagram eric, i think that is what I needed!
