My credo
My friend says it's cool, does that count?
After searching for eternity and not finding anything that works in a stock application, I finally gave up and called QA1 and talked to a rep about potential coilovers that would work. After about half an hour on the phone talking about weight, length, and travel, we happened to stumble upon a gold mine; a Chevy S10 has the same basic front suspension setup, AND they make coilovers for them. With that in mind I took a leap and ordered the pro adjustable front coil set. From what I can tell, the only reason nobody carries stock-mount coilovers for a ranger is because they never thought to bring one in to test. That was the case with QA1. But for all my Mini Rangers out there, these coilovers absolutely work perfectly and make a huge difference in ride quality and handling, especially if you're running 2-4" drop up front.

Me. I'm not at all surprised by this. S-10 and Ranger have a lot of parts that actually interchange quite well.

In college there was an S-10 that I passed by regularly that had a Ranger bed. There was also a T-100 on campus that switched between Ranger and S-10 beds periodically. I knew a guy who basically all but bolted a Ranger 8.8 into his S-10 as a cheap flip kit, and the one my wife was driving when I met her used a slave that was all but identical to a Ranger's slave.

There's a guy here in town with a s-10 stepside bed on a ranger. Said it was pita to get wired right.

Anyone know if this works on a 1986 ranger 2wd?

No. The 97 and earlier Rangers don't share a single common front suspension component with the later trucks.

What about the S-10 parts catalogue? could something in there work, like it did here?

it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
you just make simple brackets to fit coil overs on a tib truck. seen it quite a bit years ago when tib trucks were more common.

i have seen what i assume were the f150 ford struts on tib trucks....looks sort of like a coil over.

didnt investigate it too far but looked like a simple deal to me. didnt talk to the owner directly so i dont know if it did anything for ride ect...

use the older s10 slaves for t5 conversions too...and the rear trac bar on some later iterations.

cool to see a useable already valved/tuned part like this.

Hey bud do you happen to have a link for the exact ones? What spring rate did you go with? I have a 05 3.0 STX and looking for a better front end setup than the drop springs from djm
