I don't care who makes it as long as it's fast!
Yes I searched for about 3 hours.

I'm looking to put a different hvac system in my 91. I need room to put a 4.6 DOHC in the truck but I need A/C due to living in Florida.

I've heard you can swap in a 2005 Explorer system, but not sure how much work it is.

I know it's been done and would like to know which truck I need to cannibalize to keep the A/C in my truck with the 4.6 DOHC.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Technically you don't actually "need" either of those things as you will not die without them.

But to swap in a 4.6 SOHC or DOHC will require a bit more space. The 95+ Explorers and Rangers had a bit more space, not really because of a more compact system, but because the holes in the firewall pushed it farther over, and the box was shaped different.

Do do what you are proposing will basically require rebuilding your firewall with bits from a 95+ Ranger or a 95-01 Explorer.

Thanks for your input. Doesn't really help though.

Um as for the 'need' comment.
I live in Florida. I drive 90 miles twice a day in business attire.
I need the A/C to keep me from soaking my clothes on the way to work.

But thanks anyway.

Without even knowing engine I would say use the compressor that came with that particular engine, you can to have refrigerant lines made from the compressor to the condenser and accumulator if necessary.

Unless it's a no fit situation then I don't know what to tell you because then you have to fall back on to fabrication and creation skills to get it all the fit inside a ranger
