I"m going to remove the seam sealer from my leaking gutter. I don't see any rust but to play it safe, after grinding out the seam sealer, should I spray it with rust reformer, then primer and then the seam sealer? I'm not a perfectionist so I'm not worried about getting a perfect paint job. I want functionality.

I removed the old seam sealer. I first used a high speed wire wheel to remove the big stuff and then a high speed grinding wheel and finally I used a Dremel tool with a very small burr. Then I sprayed it with a rust converter. Then I applied the 550 seam sealer. That didn't go so well. It's hard to work with. Then I sprayed with paint. It looks good, compared to a broom paint job.

I've got the same problem on my '89 Bronco2, 550 seam sealer you say? I was thinking of using bondo as that's what I assume they used from the factory. But what ever they used from the factory failed. I have a little rust, two pit holes on either side of the wind shield need to be filled as well.
Was considering using a syringe and pumping a little oil in these pit holes first... I think a few corner's and nooks through out the B2 could use some oil love honestly.

Do NOT use bondo. It will absorb water and make it worse. Don't use oil where you want sealer to stick. Physically or chemically remove rust or convert it.

Quality 2-part primer and quality 3m 2-part seam sealer (need a special gun). It will not be cheap, but it will be worth it.

Just did it on the 1987. Clean out, POR15, prime, seam sealer, prime, paint. Did well for me.
