For what it's worth- while my oldest son and I were test driving the new Ranger at the Seattle Auto Show, we were talking with one of the Test Drivers from Ford. He was saying that "they're basically done with it and expect a boxy shape like the original with a removable top". He added that they've got 2 other engine combos going through EPA right now including a diesel.

FWIW: From the Ford dealer convention in Las Vegas, there are pictures of the supposed 2020 Bronco.

https://www.cjponyparts.com/resources/news/2020-ford-bronco

And I think it looks like a warmed over Everest. - I'm not near as "amped up" as the CJ Pony team was. But then I am a purist and a Bronco only has 2 doors (+ hatch).

Windshield rake nor it's length matches with the one posted earlier under the cover...

Hopefully this is just a ruse to throw us off maybe, I hope. (or maybe the one under the cover was the ruse? hope NOT!!)

While it was originally believed that this was the big-boy Bronco, Motor Authority has it on good, um, authority that this is actually the "baby Bronco," and Car and Driver is reporting similarly.

Nice looking car, I would replace my wife's Edge with it (if it was up to me ;missingteeth;)

It looks a lot better than any other SUV in their lineup.

5 bolt wheels make it look non Ranger based and more like the other smaller SUV's they say the baby bronco is supposed to be based on.

To each his own.
I have no doubt the new Bronco is to the Everest as the new Ranger is to the ROW Ranger.

A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
From what i read that is actually the yet unnamed "baby bronco" (call it a Bronco II?)

If that is the real bronco, ford has once again failed miserably. Its supposed to be competition for the wrangler not the renegade. No solid axles.....cmon ford.

In my opinion, Ford will NEVER use a solid front axle in any of their light, consumer grade vehicles. Only in their tow pigs.

Well, the leaked information was only that Ford would use Dana axles and a number of people immediately jumped to conclusion that meant solid axles. But as we know, the Ranger has Dana axles and while the rear is a solid axle; the front is IFS...

Personally, I was hoping for Troller T4 modified for mass production by Ford, e.g. Ranger dash/console/seating/power train (2.3EB/10spd auto)/etc. With different front clip & shell on back. Troller did 4 door concept of the T4, so I was hoping for similar to Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited idea.

The 4 dr Everest just doesn't do it for me, but then I have an Explorer Sport.

The new Ranger has a Dana rear axle similar to the Jeep and I think Colorado confirmed by Jim and Fastpackr in Detroit.

Still haven't seen what the real Bronco is, just the baby Bronco.

Ford is keeping very hush, hush on the Bronco outside of a little info here and there.

Ford did say that both the Ranger and the Bronco would have Dana Advantek axles front and rear. From everything I’m seeing, the front will be the IFS model for the front.

That stinks for the off road crowd but the average person who buys trucks and SUVs don’t off road and most likely will rarely even see a gravel road, let alone a dirt one. So, they care more for ride comfort and control that off road capability. Since that is where most of the money is, Ford will cater to them.

I still think the Bronco is going to be an Everest with a revised body.

IFS is more to comply with federal safety (rollover) regs than anything else. That's really where the "need" for front IFS came from.

It comes down to liability. Even with a warning sticker on the visor, 90% of soccer moms that end up behind the wheel of a solid axle vehicle have no clue how to handle the way it drives/behaves in the event of an emergency maneuver, etc. I can't count how many women have rolled Jeeps in my area.. They just blast down the road 70mph like it's any other vehicle, not considering what would happen if they had to make a sudden swerve to avoid an obstacle.

And that's how you get a federal government that controls the vehicle market and sets nearly unattainable safety regulations.
