First off, I would like to thank everyone on TRS. I have been a member for a bit, but never posted anything. I recently bought a 1988 Mustang LX with a carbureted 306 stroker. The guy was a complete criminal and lied through his teeth as to what the car needs, and is a horrible mechanic. I am a mechanic in the US Navy and even bought the car in uniform. I have been unf***ing his work for over 2 weeks now, slowly. (Since I stay busy).
My question is: How difficult is this carb'd 306 going to be swapped into the Ranger (5spd). It is a 306 stroker with a T5. I am paying the car itself off and will have a friend with a garage real soon so I will have a place to do the swap. In addition to the v8 conversion kit, what kind of things am I going to be looking for specifically to a carb'd setup?
I am utterly confused when it comes to driveshaft length. I am going to welding school in the Navy this fall and not worried about grabbing a 8.8 from an explorer in a junkyard and welding new shock mounts. But I AM concerned with driveshaft length.
(hopefully I don't die from the exhaust fumes that protrude in the mustang since the previous owner cut a hole in the floor where the trans housing comes up)
La Cereza (my ranger) is a 97 2.3 5 speed.
