I know this may sound stupid but....

I wanna try it.

I looked up and they have chapters near my area.

Heres my biggest question i couldnt find an answer to, and i feel better making an ass out of myself here for asking it rather then to them....

Can i autocross a stock pickup truck? Like my F250 or rusty #2? I know id get my ass kicked, but it looks like fun.

or build rusty for it but leave the body how it is...

It is really fun to watch for awhile, I think it would be fun to do but everything I have would be dragging mirrors thru the course.

Fast,
That was a good little article. I actually ran across it earlier :)

85,
Id like to just go out and run it as it sits, lol. Im sure if it got in my blood id wanna build, something though.

You know i got a 2dr LTD II just sitting in the garage....wouldnt that be cool to sling around the track.

I like the idea of getting into it, or trying it out because it seems to have little upfront cost, and theres a very low chance of tearing up your ride.

I watched a 'vette understeer into a light pole once...

But yeah, take it easy and there isn't much risk.

Some clubs don't want trucks, they figure it's a rollover problem.

Maybe if yall think im not totally in left field here ill shoot a few emails.

I got a 351 just waiting to get dropped in the old ltd if the truck thing dont work. Athough it would be fun to sling a 5sp 1st gen thru the cones.

I took a driving skills course for rally. The only vehicle I had running at the time was a 1990 f250 2wd auto. The skills that I worked on transfer over, doesn't matter the vehicle.

It was his newer truck, I remember the pic where he was pulling a tire off the ground on a turn.

IIRC he mainly did 240 Nissans.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
all depends of where your at... or what/who they are.

i ran after a few cone dodger events over the years....cone crushing.

with 4 wheel independent braking and an air locker at that point in my trucks history, i destroyed some of the 2wd ranger times. and looked good doing it. that was before the drift thing started...and of course i was not running a stock 4 cyl either.

1st they laughed....and said go ahead...we will wait

then they refused to let me legitimately compete..

Most autocross rules to something like a big truck like that are going to be around the trucks center of gravity\rollover risk. You can pretty much autocross anything as long as it's basically safe (brakes and tires good and it's not leaking) but some vehicles aren't allowed it they're a high risk of rolling. I'd call your local scca chapter and ask!
